Advanced players

Players can compete at an advanced level from as early as the age of nine with the exception of even younger players participating on a full court with a regular tennis ball. Hence the ITF implemented the "Tennis 10s" initiative in order to protect these players for specific reasons.

Locally all Primary school league matches and junior tournaments for age groups 12 and under are obliged to take place under these regulations making use of the Green (dot) ball that is 25% slower than a regular tennis ball.

By making use of the Green (dot) ball younger players are less prone to injury compared to playing with a regular tennis ball. They also gain confidence on the full size court due to the ball being slower aiding in proper movement and improved positioning in order to make better contact.
